Abhisek Lahiri is a Hindustani classical instrumentalist who began performing in public at the age of 11. His first national break came in 1997, when Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia invited him to play at the Saath Saath Festival. That same year he made his debut abroad at the World Kinder Festival in Holland, where he was named a 'Wonder Kid'. He has since performed extensively in Europe, the UK, the USA, Canada, Africa, Sri Lanka, Japan, Singapore and Bangladesh, as well as in India. He and his father, Pt. Alok Lahiri, were the first Indians to perform at the Europe Parliament in France, the Cannes World Music Festival and Canada Culture Days in Toronto. He has also collaborated with the Japanese guitarist Hideaki Tsuji and his world music group Ionah. His album "Sparkling Sarod" was nominated at the Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA) in 2010, and in 2014 his album "Mood Of Puriya Kalyan" was nominated alongside Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Ustad Zakir Hussain and Rashid Khan, among others.
