Dhrupad Dost is a young group of friends who sing and play dhrupad, the oldest existing form of Hindustani temple and court music. The group comprises the vocal duo Arman Ali Dehlvi and Shivam Bhardwaj, Salman Warsi on pakhavaj and Maliha Khan on swarsangam. Arman and Shivam learn from the same guru, Ustad Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar, one of the leading exponents of dhrupad and a 20th-generation dhrupad singer of the Dagar gharana. Salman is a disciple of Pt. Dalchand Sharma, a senior pakhavaj player of the Nathdwara tradition. Maliha is one of the few professional players of the swarsangam, a modern Indian drone instrument made by Rikhi Ram that combines the tanpura and swarmandal. Dhrupad Dost has performed at universities and private baithaks, and has a YouTube channel in its name with many of its video recordings.
