Indore Gharana

Vocal

Founded by Ustad Amir Khan, the Indore gharana is known for its introspective khayal style. Singers unfold ragas slowly with long, meditative alaps, employ merukhand permutations and rich ornamentation, and aim to reveal the raga’s emotional core.
