Punjab Gharana

Tabla

Distinct from the Delhi line, the Punjab tabla gharana traces its roots to Lala Bhavani Das. It is recognised for vigorous, pakhawaj‑influenced playing that uses all four fingers to produce powerful strokes and complex mathematical patterns; exponents like Alla Rakha and Zakir Hussain have popularised its aggressive gats and relas.
