Milind Tulankar is a jaltarang player, regarded as one of the foremost exponents of the instrument in India. Born into a family with a musical background, he began learning music at a very young age, and his grandfather, the late Pt. Shankar V Kanhere (Satara), a well-known jaltarang player, inspired him to take up this unusual and endangered instrument. He also received guidance from Pt. Nayan Ghosh, the sitar player Ustad Shahid Parwez and Taalyogi Pt. Suresh Talwalkar. His performances have been acclaimed at the Baba Harwallabh Sangeet Sammelan in Jalandhar and the Abhisheki Mahotsav in Goa, and he has presented his art in Malaysia, Singapore, Austria, Australia, Switzerland, Germany, the USA, Canada, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. He has worked on projects with Ustad Toufiq Qureshi, and played the jaltarang for the background score of the BBC production film 'West is west'. His name is associated with untiring efforts to promote the jaltarang.
