Sur Mani, Sur Singar Samsad
Rajendra Teredesai is one of the foremost ganda-bandh disciples of the flute maestro Padma Vibhushan Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia. He belongs to the Beenkaar Maihar gharana, founded by Acharya Ustad Baba Allauddin Khansaheb. His music blends the gayaki and gatkaari ang of Indian classical instrumental music with a rich, soothing tone and immaculate blowing technique. His style shows a strong influence of the meditative, expansive gayaki of Ustad Amir Khan Saheb, and he also draws influence from Pt. Nikhil Banerjee, while seeking a distinctive individuality of his own. Rajendra has performed at major music festivals and sangeet sammelans in India and abroad, touring Europe, the USA, Canada, the Middle East and South East Asia. He has played jugalbandis and world music concerts with the santoor, sitar, violin, mandolin, guitar, jaltarang, piano and ghatam, and has released several albums in collaboration with international musicians. He has been conferred the citation of "Sur Mani" by the Sur Singar Samsad.
