Anirban DasGupta is a sarod player and the youngest son and disciple of Pt. Buddhadev Dasgupta. He grew up surrounded by Indian classical music, with his older sibling, Bhavani Shankar, also following in their father's footsteps, and he took up the sarod at an early age under his father's guidance. In 1987 he stood first in the All India Radio (AIR) Music Competition. He has performed widely in India as well as in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and the USA, and released his first CD album from the Netherlands in 2002. Like his father, Anirban balances a musical career with academic and professional pursuits. He holds a master's degree in electrical engineering from Jadavpur University, Calcutta, and is employed as a senior IT executive in New Jersey, USA, where he lives.
