Smt. Geeta Gulvady is a classical vocalist whose style blends the Kirana, Jaipur-Atrauli and Gwalior gharanas. She began her training in Belgaum with Shri Kadalaskar Buva of the Kirana gharana and continued it in Nagpur under Pt. Prabhakar Rao Deshkar. Around this time she completed her Sangeet Visharad from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, standing first in Maharashtra and second in India. She later did her M.A. (Music) from Bombay University and Sangeet Alankar from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She also learned from Smt. Vijaya Jadhav Gatlewar of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana, and imbibed the finer nuances of this gharana from one of its leading doyens, Pt. Nivruttibua Sarnaik. She underwent rigorous voice culture training under Dr. Jayant Karandikar of the Omkar Sadhana Kendra, Ahmednagar, and for 10 years took advanced training from Pt. Narayan Rao Bodas of the Gwalior gharana. Her repertoire ranges from khayal to dadra, bhajan and natyasangeet.
