Rewa Natu is a Hindustani classical vocalist. She was inspired and initiated into music by her father, Pt. Vinayak Phatak, himself a tabla artist, and had the early privilege of hearing and meeting the musicians he accompanied at recitals. She began learning at the age of 12 from the late Shri Dattopant Agashebua of the Gwalior gharana, and was further groomed by the late Pt. Sharad Gokhale and Dr. Digvijay Vaidya. She earned a master's degree in music from SNDT University, Pune, where she received guidance from Vid. Dr. Veena Sahasrabuddhe. She completed her doctoral research (Sangeetaacharya) under Dr. Digvijay Vaidya, earning the Sangeetaacharya from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She stood first in the national-level competition of All India Radio (AIR), receiving the National Scholarship for Classical Music, and received the Tamhankar Scholarship from Gaanvardhan, Pune, in 1994. Empanelled with AIR and a regular performer on it, Rewa has performed in various parts of India and abroad. Drawing on all her gurus, she has developed her own style, and has been trained extensively in taals and their application in bandishes. Besides khyaal, she presents tarana and thumri, as well as semi-classical forms such as natyageet and bhajan. She has composed and presented thematic programmes such as 'Shakti' and 'Shyam Ghana Chayyo', combining classical and semi-classical music related to the theme. Her work was appreciated by the late former Prime Minister Shri P. V. Narsimha Rao.
