Vinayak Chittar is a sitar player. He began training at the age of 10 under Pt. P.G. Parab, a disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar and Smt. Annapurna Devi of the Maihar Gharana, and later trained under Pt. Arvind Parikh, a disciple of Ustad Vilayat Khan of the Etawah Gharana. Though trained in two gharanas, he is strongly influenced by the gayaki of the Jaipur and Agra gharanas, which he blends with the Etawah style. He is known for his expertise with complex and hybrid ragas. In 1992 he became an A-grade sitar artiste of All India Radio (AIR).
