The terms, in short

No fee to join. You stay the owner of your recordings; Ragya only streams them, and listeners can’t download them.
A share of Ragya’s subscription revenue, paid in proportion to how long your music is heard. There’s no minimum payout.
Listening reports: how long your tracks were heard, and how often listeners marked them as favourites.
Every kind of recording: concerts, baithaks, studio and old recordings are all welcome, of any length.

How joining works

Get your profile
If Ragya has invited you, the link in your email opens a profile already made and approved for you. If not, request one with a little about yourself and links to your music, and we’ll write back once we’ve heard it.
Set it up in Ragya Studio
Add your photo, biography, gurus and links from your own account.
Upload your recordings
On your profile’s Music page, send MP3, WAV or FLAC files, with the raga and the accompanists for each. We listen to each one before it goes live.

In Ragya Studio

Profile: Your photo, biography, gurus and links.
Music: Your renditions on Ragya, and the recordings you’ve sent.
Payments: Your bank or UPI details, your share this year, and past payouts.
Listenership: How long your music was heard over the last week, month, quarter or year.
Website: Optional, and paid for by the year: your own site, on your own domain, made from your profile on Ragya.

Questions

Do I pay anything to be on Ragya?

No. There’s no fee to join or to upload, and artistes earn from Ragya. The only thing you can pay for is an optional website of your own.

Who owns my recordings?

You do. Ragya only streams them, and listeners can’t download them.

How am I paid?

A share of Ragya’s subscription revenue is paid to artistes in proportion to how long their music is heard, with no minimum payout. Add your bank account or UPI ID on Studio’s Payments page, where you’ll also see your share and past payouts. If you’re outside India, write to support@ragya.com and we’ll arrange it.

I’m already on Ragya. How do I manage my profile?

Does it have to be a studio recording?

No. A recording from a studio, a baithak or a concert is welcome, as long as it’s clear and enjoyable to hear.

Does it have to be a recent recording?

No. Old recordings are welcome too, including gramophone digitisations that are rare or brilliant even where the sound isn’t perfect.

Which formats can I upload?

MP3, WAV or FLAC, at the best quality you have.

How does Ragya earn?

Part of Ragya is free for everyone, and the full catalogue opens with Premium. Premium subscriptions are Ragya’s revenue, and the artistes’ share comes from them.

Can a label or organisation join?

Yes. Record labels, archives, festivals and schools keep their rights and share in the revenue on the same basis. Tell us about your organisation, and we’ll write to you about your recordings.
